With the rapid development of distributed photovoltaic (PV), flat roofs have become an important carrier for industrial, commercial and civil PV projects due to their vast area and easy utilization. In the flat roof PV system, the mounting method of the bracket directly affects the safety, economy and long-term reliability of the system. As a non-penetrating mounting solution, ballasted mounting system has gradually become the mainstream choice in the industry by virtue of its unique advantages. Traditional penetrating mounting need to be drilled and fixed on the roof, which may damage the waterproof layer and increase the potential risk of water leakage and structural corrosion. The ballast system, however, provides stability through counterweights or the self-weight of the bracket, eliminating the need for drilling or welding, and preserving the waterproofing and thermal insulation layers of the roof in its entirety. This “zero-destruction” feature is especially suitable for roofs with strict waterproofing requirements (e.g. factories, warehouses, commercial buildings) and significantly reduces maintenance costs.
Flat roof PV ballasted mounting system has become a preferred solution in the field of distributed energy by virtue of its safety, economy and environmental friendliness. With the lightweighting of counterweight materials and the application of intelligent monitoring technologies (e.g., real-time load sensors), its advantages will be further highlighted, promoting the integration of PV and buildings to a higher level.
